In addition to the adoption fee of $450, I will require a training deposit of $150 which is fully refundable upon completion of a training course.
Foster Update #2 - Harper is a sweet girl who has learned a few basic commands such as “sit” and “down,” and we continue to work on “stay.” She is potty trained and walks well on a leash. She is also a total cuddle bug with me and loves her quiet affection time.
Initially, she was very leery of humans, especially those who approach her directly. She is friendly and will come up to people on her own terms; however, when a hand is raised to pet her, she tends to pull away. With continued patience and positive experiences, she is gradually building her confidence and learning that people can be trusted.
Harper was spayed last Thursday and is recovering quickly.
She is very interested in other dogs and desperately wants to play with them. She does not show much interest in balls or toys at this time. We have experienced some separation anxiety and counter surfing, and we are actively working on correcting those behaviors.
The perfect home for her will be one where her human(s) have the patience to continue her training and build her confidence. I believe she would truly thrive in a home with another dog to keep her company, as too much alone time would not be ideal for her. She also enjoys spending time in the front yard watching people and dogs walk by — taking in the world from a safe space.
With continued structure, companionship, and love, she has so much potential to blossom into an incredibly devoted companion.
Foster Update #1 - Harper is a sweet and loving girl that cuddled right into her doggie bed on the first night. Today we walked the neighborhood several times. Harper will need a little leash training. She does not pull but rather tries to go from side to side as she explores. We need to put some weight on this sweet girl, she is roughly 63lbs. Introduction - Harper is a pretty 3 yr old female who waited patiently in a shelter to be rescued. She is sweet and mellow for her age, a little confused at all the rescue activity and associated rides, but she didn't make a peep. She needed a little encouragement to get into the car, but rode like a champ and hopped right out at the vet's office with a wagging tail. Check back as we learn more about Harper in foster care.
