Foster Update - Goldie is a jewel. We had her for 4 days and she is adjusting and learning very fast . She is house trained now, although she has her favorite places to do her business outside ( our backyard and the park behind the house) and she did not generalize it yet to other outside spaces. She may need some time to figure out the bathroom situation in her new home. She learned to jump in the car if someone is at the other car door calling her and to jump out of the car. She learned to go downstairs (it scared her at first) and to ride the elevator. She is cautious in the new places but not too frightened. Last weekend she attended the basketball tournament with 4 games going at the same time (including wheelchair basketball game ) and she did fine- she really enjoyed the attention ! She likes kids of any age and she likes other dogs. She is gentle so she prefers to run around with smaller dogs. She does not like the wrestling type of play - especially with big intimidating dogs. She discovered that she is a retriever :) She is a velcro girl, she hates to be alone and she prefers to sleep with her people . She has moderate energy and is not as "robust" as a lab -more delicate, cautious and "lady like". We did not have time yet to check if she likes the beach I think she would make an awesome therapy dog and she would enjoy the job too. Introduction - Goldie Hawn is adorable! She is friendly, loves playing with other dogs, going for walks, and playing with toys. She is gentle, affectionate and cuddly. All this and she’s an excellent car buddy too. A volunteer has been working with her on basic commands like sit, wait and off. She is learning not to jump up to say “hey” and that it isn’t polite to put her big feet on counters to see what’s there. Looking for a couch buddy while watching TV or reading? Goldie is your girl. Appreciate supervision and assistance while gardening? She’s there to help. Goldie Hawn is good natured and a head turner, as befitting her name.
