Foster Update - Hiro is doing well and recovering nicely from his neutering on 11/4. He is a high energy boy for sure and will need an active home or avid walker. He is very interested in birds and I’m sure would chase them if given the opportunity. With a gentle lead he is walking nicely and only pulls when out in front. He is a chewer and a counter surfer so when left unattended will get into anything available. He knows “leave it” and although I’m certain he knows “drop it” he just takes off running with the object. He takes treats gently and is very affectionate. Loud noises, dump trucks and other barking dogs don’t seem to bother him. He sleeps in his crate all night but doesn’t want to be in it during the day. If I need to crate him, he’ll flop himself on the ground and go limp to try and avoid getting in. He is excited and friendly with everyone he meets and very smart. He will need training and a patient owner but will make a great companion. He stops at the overlook to the beach so will see how big a water boy he is after healing from his neuter and shedding the cone! Introduction - Hiro, named after a character in Marvel comics, is a big, stunning lab. At one year old, he is a puppy in a big boy body- friendly, exuberant and full of energy. He has been lovingly cared for by his previous family and we are pleased they entrusted him with us to find his forever home. Treats like carrots, blueberries, strawberries, banana, watermelon and stuffed frozen kongs are favorites. Hiro likes to play fetch, chase a soccer ball (sometimes destroying it) and displays excellent sniffing skills on walks and hikes. Being with people is his #1 favorite place to be, belly rubs please! He looks forward to being part of an active family and lots of new adventures.
