Foster Update - Pumpkin has settled into the routine in her foster home wonderfully. She gets along great with the resident senior Labs and loves to chase the ball, do zoomies, wrestle and share toys with younger visiting Labs and Goldens. She sleeps quietly overnight on a dog bed in her foster parent's bedroom, sits nicely for her meals, is housebroken and not a counter surfer. She will alert bark to noises outside but is not an excessive barker. After two months of antibiotics and medicated baths her skin and coat look great. Although she is not currently symptomatic, Pumpkin came to the rescue with orthopedic issues. On 1/14 she had a consult with an orthopedic specialist who confirmed moderate hip dysplasia, some minor arthritis in her elbows, and an old cruciate tear in her right knee. Pumpkin is scheduled for TPLO surgery on 1/27 so will be with a rehab foster for recovery and is anticipated to be ready for adoption by early April. Vacation Foster Update - Pumpkin spent the holiday weekend living the ranch life and did great with the three residents dogs, senior kitty and horses. Introduction - Pumpkin is a true rescue. She was brought into a shelter by someone claiming that she was found on the street. Pumpkin was underweight, not microchipped, not spayed and in poor condition missing most of her fur on half of her body. While at the shelter she was spayed and treated for a painful ear infection. She did great on her dog to dog test at the shelter. Despite her condition she is a friendly happy girl and a typical Lab who loves people. Now that she is with Lab Rescuers she is being treated for her skin infection with antibiotics and medicated baths. We are also investigating possible orthopedic issues. Please check back for updates once she goes to her foster home.
