In addition to the adoption fee of $600, I will require a training deposit of $150 which is fully refundable upon completion of a training course.
Foster Update - Cupid is a fun and super sweet boy. He has grown very attached to our Lab Coach and they play very well together. Not too rough, but are typically always near each other. It’s been fun to watch. I think he could be a lone dog, but it’s clear he’s been mostly around other dogs.
Cupid has also been fantastic with our 2yo grandson. He’ll knock him over accidentally, but the too are good buds.
Cupid loves his toys, and is slow to put holes in them but eventually will, so either hard toys or someone who can stitch up small holes is best.
I’ve given him exposure to our pool, but to date he hasn’t gone in. I do suspect he eventually will though.
He’s of medium energy, especially since he’s so young. He is not food obsessed, but has started to eat his meals and snacks faster lately. I attribute that mostly to Coach eating fast and then trying to sneak some of Cupid’s before he finishes.
Cupid has peed in the house a few times when the slider has been shut. On those occasions we were around, and he just didn’t indicate he needed to go potty. He also still pees on the concrete patio even when there’s lots of grass yard available. I suspect he came from a place where concrete was a normal option. Work in progress correcting that.
He doesn’t jump on furniture or in the car, but is a very good traveler once he’s helped in. We’ve left him outside with Coach while we ran errands, and my neighbors say he doesn’t bark unless someone comes to the door. He will run to the front door if a doorbell rings on TV!
Overall, this guy is a GREAT dog!
Medical Notes - Cupid has elbow dysplasia and some changes in the shoulder and hock joints consistent with some OCD lesions. He is asymptomatic with no treatment recommended at this time. Recommendations for medical management include keeping his weight lean, regular daily exercise, Adequan injections, and glucosamine supplements for life such as Cosequin, Dasuquin or TRP-Tri-COX. If lameness is noted as he gets older, NSAIDs such as Carprofen or Librella injections would be recommended.
Introduction - Cupid joined LR as a big, healthy, 7 month old puppy. He needs lots of guidance and training, but is such a gentleman already. Rides calmly in the car, wants to be loved by all and is the most handsome boy ever. Please check back once his foster gets to know him. He will be an amazing dog with some gentle training and lots of love!
