Foster Update - Maverick is a five-year-old Black Lab with a heart as big as his paws. This well-trained gentleman knows all the basics—sit, lay down, shake, and even “gentle.” He has a mellow temperament, making him a great fit for families with kids, and he’s proven to do well around other dogs, too.
Maverick is both a wonderful walking companion and a playful buddy. On leash, he walks calmly without pulling or trying to take charge. Off leash, he’ll explore a bit more but remains easy to call back and very responsive. On a recent outing, he happily walked and ran alongside a child on a bike without any reactivity at all.
Indoors, Maverick is relaxed, respectful, and very aware of the space around both children and adults. He settles in nicely and is a chill presence in the home. That said, he is still a Lab at heart! If he doesn’t get his daily exercise, his playful and restless side comes out, and he’ll be ready to turn the living room into his playground. For that reason, he thrives with a routine that includes daily walks, fetch sessions, or a fun trip to the dog park. With the right balance of exercise and downtime, he’s the perfect mix of playful and easygoing.
Maverick also loves stuffed toys—though his goal is always to free the squeaker inside! Families with kids should be aware that Maverick doesn’t always distinguish between his toys and children’s stuffed animals, so a little extra supervision may be needed.
Other fun quirks? Maverick is a drooly guy and finds the vacuum mop worthy of a few barks (never nipping or biting, just voicing his disapproval). He’s also a dream travel buddy—easy in and out of the car, relaxed on rides, and always up for the next adventure.
With his gentle nature, honey eyes, and love for belly rubs, Maverick is ready to bring joy, love, and loyalty to his forever family.
Introduction - Maverick is an awesome, highly trained, super smart, fetch and retrieve type of Lab. He is good with other dogs, cats and kids. He also loves water so maybe a pool, beach, river etc would be nice to offer him in his new home. He's new, so check back as we discover more about this diamond dawg...
