Foster Update #2 - Bruno has been with me for a week while he recovers from mass tumor removal surgery and he is genuinely a great dog. He has been tested with both dogs and cats and did wonderfully with both. He is fully potty trained with no accidents or marking, knows sit, lay, and paw, and is respectful of my home with no chewing, stealing, or possessiveness. He is not a drooly dog and takes his meals and medication easily. Bruno enjoys being outdoors and going for walks, and once corrected, he walks nicely on leash. He loves lounging around the house, is good with kids, and has shown no destructive behaviors. He is affectionate but still a little reserved right now. Bruno is a bit of a nervous boy with all the recent changes in his life and is not a fan of the nightly fireworks from nearby SeaWorld, but he is getting more comfortable and confident every day. This week Bruno visited the dog beach for a short walk and handled the environment, people, and other dogs beautifully. He has also been to two friends’ homes with cats and dogs and was respectful and uninterested in bothering them. The other dog was a girl around his age and they coexisted very nicely. She was unhappy with him on her bed and corrected him. He handled it very well and respected her space. Bruno is a sweet, well mannered, and easygoing boy who will make a wonderful companion for a lucky adopter. Medical Update - We have great news to share! Bruno’s lumps were determined to be lipomas, benign (non-cancerous) fatty tumors that are very common, especially in older dogs. Foster Update #1 - Bruno came to stay with me yesterday to recover from surgery and is settling in well. He’s clearly been a house dog. He knows sit, lay, paw, and politely waits at the door. Bruno is food motivated, calm, and spends most of his time relaxing as he decompresses and recovers. On walks, he’s curious and loves to explore, showing no issues with people or squirrels. While I haven’t introduced him to other pets yet, he passed his dog test with the rescue and was noted as dog-friendly. Bruno would be a wonderful companion for someone looking for a gentle, well-mannered dog. Introduction - Bruno is a kind older gentleman who is looking forward to meeting you! What we know about him so far is that he hops into vehicles with no issues, rides like a champ, may be housetrained and likes other dogs. While waiting at the shelter to be released he met two young children and was very sweet and gentle with them. Bruno came with a large lump that you can see in his pics. We are awaiting pathology results from our vet and hoping it’s a fatty mass, not uncommon in older dogs. Although the shelter estimated his age to be 11, our vet determined him to be about 8-10 years old. He has lots of spring in his steps and lots of love to give. Please check back as Bruno goes to foster and we learn more about him.
