In addition to the adoption fee of $600, I will require a training deposit of $150 which is fully refundable upon completion of a training course.
Foster Update #2 - She is a DOLL and is very sweet. I have enjoyed fostering her this past month. She had a bit of a rough start as was scheduled to be spayed however, started her heat cycle which delayed the spaying procedure.
She was spayed on July 24th and has had no issues post-surgery. Despite frequent brushing, she had a lot of matting. I took her in for a wash and cut so she looks super cute. She is a skinny girl, but I am confident she will fill out in time. This is my first Labradoodle and I am learning a lot. The groomer, I took her to, was very forthcoming with grooming tips. She recommended that whoever adopts her, should commit to grooming her once a month to prevent further matting. LDs need to be brushed very frequently, especially Coco because she has tight curls. She sits well for her brushing with a slicker brush.
Coco Love Highlights
*Low to Moderate energy
*Kid friendly
*Potty trained (never had an accident in the home)
*Trustworthy when left alone in the home
*Loves walks, but needs further training
*Velcro to humans she is bonded to but loves everyone in the house.
*Great work-from-home buddy
*Sleeps through the night in doggy bed at the side of her humans’ bed
*She is very loving and enjoys a good cuddle and pet.
*Plays well with our other lab
*Very kitty friendly.
*She knows several commands including sit, stay, down and shake. *She has started to “jump up” on us when we come home because she is excited to see us. We are working on discouraging this behavior.
*She takes treats very gently.
Areas of Improvement
*She is fearful about meeting new people, initially. She warms up to people after a day or so.
*Barks at new guests in the house but settles down after a few sniffs.
*She hasn’t jumped up in the car yet. We have to lift all 40lbs of her, however she doesn’t seem to mind. She is starting to jump out of the car on cue.
*She needs work on recalling. She is a bit of a runner if she thinks she can slip out the front door. We have had to be extra careful to ensure we close the gate in the front courtyard so she can’t escape. The escape attempts may be related to a lack of walking time at her previous home. From what I understand, she was a backyard dog.
Medical
*Recently spayed.
Foster Update #1 - Coco Love has been our foster for 10 days and she is a very sweet velcro Labradoodle. She knows several commands i.e. sit, stay, lay, shake, and come. She has finally started eating all of her food. She is a slow eater who constantly walks away from her bowl looking for her person.I have been putting the bowl down near me so she can see me without worrying I am leaving (aka out of eye sight). Coco takes treats gently.
She has not played with toys yet, however has chewed a bone on occasion. She just recently started playing with our yellow lab, Pebbles.By play, I mean she chases Pebbles while she is zooming around the yard. She is very curious about our cats and doesn't miss an opportunity to clean them when they let her. I would consider her to be a mellow to moderate energy dog. She does seem to freeze-up when loading into or getting out of the car. She won't jump in the back or jump down without moderate prompting. Once she is inside the car, she calms down. Coca appears to be interested in the pool but has not swam yet. She has gone on a few walks however she is laying low for a few weeks because she is in season (heat). She wears her dog panties and pads without complaint. I'm not sure how long this will last however, I believe it started around the 7th of July. We will walk Coco more frequently as her estrus subsides.
I believe Coco will be suited best for a home/family with another dog. Since she likes to hang out with her humans, she would do best with a family or adopter who works from home, or is retired. Leaving her for long periods of time causes her anxiety. She is good with my 9 year old daughter and likes to chase her in the backyard.
Introduction - Coco Love is a sweet blonde petite golden doodle that just loves to chill with her humans. She has been an outdoor dog for her whole short life and is not house trained quite yet or crate trained but eager to please so training should be easy. She knows how to sit, stay, and how to shake. She eats pretty well and takes treats gently. She is excellent with small children, other dogs, and cats. Reportedly loves the water. Check back for more details soon.
