In addition to the adoption fee of $600, I will require a training deposit of $150 which is fully refundable upon completion of a training course.
Foster Update - I've fostered Dash for 5 days and he is a wonderful house guest and a very sweet, big boy. He is tall, dark and handsome and weighs in at a svelte 80 pounds of fun.
He is good with cats. We have 5 and he seems curious about them, but he is not aggressive.
He is a gentle giant but can play hard with our other lab, Pebbles, who are now good buddies. He gets along well with our 9 year old husky, who is somewhat dominant. He shares toys and does enjoy a good tug-of-war with Pebbles. He plays fetch and likes pouncing on the basketball.
He enjoys walking with his dog pack, meeting new dogs and people. He is pretty good on the leash, doesnt pull too much. He corrects easily and quickly. Thus far, he has can walk atleast 3 miles and does not show any fatigue. He eagerly jumps in and out of the car and is always ready for a ride.
He sleeps throughout the night on a dog bed and does not jump up onto the bed.
He has a good appetite, however, eats his food quickly. He takes treats gently but needs to work on not infringing upon the space of the other dogs when they are receiving treats. He has put his face in Pebbles food bowl, when she's eating, until he sees his bowl. He is learning to wait for his bowl to be put down. This is something we're working on. I have not seen him chew anything as of yet. We are all retired so he is rarely by himself. We left him and our two other dogs inside the house when we went out to dinner, for 90 minutes, and nothing was destroyed.
He has only barked once, when he was playing with the basketball.
He doesn't show much interest in the pool yet. We will test him out later.
He likes everyone in the house. He has good manners and does not jump up on people or counter surf. He knows how to sit and stay. We are working down and shake/paw.
He likes being with his people but is not a velcro lab. He checks in with and visits everyone in the house. He will make a good forever family member to a household with another dog and with someone who takes frequent walks.
Introduction - Dash is a handsome English Lab and a real sweetheart. He's gentle with everyone, people and other dogs alike. He sits politely when asked and takes treats gently. When he met new dog, he was a perfect gentleman, greeting her calmly before moving on to sniff the bushes. He didn't jump on foster or squirm when we checked him all-over, and he was good for the car ride to meet his foster dad.
He knows "sit" already, but his new family will need to teach him all the other basics, including some leash training. He loves a good game of chase and is a big fan of squeaky toys and I was told he is a heavy chewer. He grew up with two other dogs, so he's definitely good with other dogs, but we're not sure about cats. At night, he's comfortable in his crate or on the master bedroom floor.
Check back for updates soon.
