In addition to the adoption fee of $600, I will require a training deposit of $150 which is fully refundable upon completion of a training course.
Update - Hope has been diagnosed positive for heartworm and has begun treatment. The heartworm treatment is expected to last approximately three months. She is anticipated to complete treatment in October.
Foster Update - Hope is dealing with a number of medical issues right now, but she's taking all her medications like a champ and on the road to better health. She will be on medical hold for several more weeks. When she first arrived, Hope was scared of the indoor stairs, but with some 'guidance' using a leash and treat bribes, she now goes up and down the stairs without any issue. On day two, she figured out how the doggie door works, and will go in/out without problems. With her current UTI, she drinks a lot of water and goes pee frequently, so we have had a few accidents. But... today was a big breakthrough as she used her stair skills and doggie door skills to go out to the turf area outside to pee... ON HER OWN! So proud of her!
Hope gets along fine with my female Lab. They don't play together, but they do interact, and they're usually next to each other. Hope does not seem to be interested in toys or balls. We will wait until she recovers from her ear infection before we test the pool to see if she is a swimmer. I'm keeping her activity level 'low' while she gets back to full health, but I think she will eventually be considered a medium energy dog. She sleeps on a mattress pad in my bedroom, and stays down until we all get up in the morning. She hasn't swiped anything (yet), but she does have counter surfer instincts. She doesn't know any commands (or at least she's pretending not to know any) so working on that. This friendly girl does not believe in personal space, even by Lab standards, she loves to stick her head everywhere it shouldn't be, so she is currently a bit of a tripping hazard.
Introduction - A retiring breeder has entrusted Labrador Rescuers with this beautiful purebred AKC English Labrador to find their forever home. Friendly, engaging and sociable, this dog will make a wonderful pet to any home committed to their training. They will need basic training skills, but know some commands. Rides quietly in the car, gives sweet kisses and is eager to please. Walking on a leash is new to this pup and leash training is necessary. This dog comes with their AKC registration certificate. Please check back for updates as we learn more about their personality from their foster home.
