In addition to the adoption fee of $600, I will require a training deposit of $150 which is fully refundable upon completion of a training course.
Vacation Foster Update - We had the pleasure of weekend fostering Lucy. She is absolutely adorable. She is a sweet, fun girl. It took her about an hour to warm up to us, but once she did, she’s all about following us around. She’s a short and stout little thing and is definitely a trip hazard! I think she will do ok with cats. She showed a little interest in our pet rabbit, but quickly moves along when asked. She wants so badly to play with my dogs, who tend to be on the anti-social side. Lucy tried and tried and finally got Bella to cave and play keep away with a toy. They both really enjoyed playing together. We’ve met dogs on walks and she’s very interested in meeting them and approaches them with a happy wagging tail and no barking. She needs some practice walking on the leash - she weaves a lot.
Lucy is not in peak physical shape in terms of stamina so probably not a running partner or multi-mile hike partner. She gets spurts of energy and then it’s rest and repeat. She takes treats ever so gently. She likes my kids and my husband. I haven’t truly tested her in the pool (although I know she can swim because she fell in) but I gave her a bath and she didn’t mind and wasn’t afraid of the water. She may seize an opportunity to chew something she shouldn’t. She slept in her crate at night and she does not whine or bark at all. Once in the car, she doesn’t seem to mind, but I haven’t been able to get her in of her own accord. She lets me lift her in, but she’s 85 lbs so lifting her into the back of an SUV is no easy task. Getting her into the back seat of a sedan type car would probably be easier, over time she’ll likely get better about getting in and out. She joined me in a store that allows dogs and she walked around with confidence and curiosity. Lucy is truly a gem and will make one lucky family very happy.
Foster Update - Lucy is an absolute sweetheart who’s slowly blossoming into her best self. She’s still a bit timid and learning to trust her surroundings, but every day she shows us a little more of her gentle, loving personality. Though she’s not quite sure about dog beds (she prefers the floor nearby), when Lucy gets excited, she turns into a happy, bouncy bundle of joy—it’s impossible not to smile watching her hop around with giddy enthusiasm! She’s low to moderate energy and happiest lounging in the backyard, soaking up the shade and the quiet.
Lucy is food-motivated, which has made training a fun bonding experience. She’s learning “sit” and “gentle,” and already knows “kennel” (though whether she feels like obeying is still a bit negotiable). She’s fully potty trained and rides well in the car—great for laid-back adventures. She’s been around children ages 4–11 and does wonderfully. While she doesn’t initiate play, she enjoys quietly observing the fun and is always happy to accept gentle pets and snuggles. Lucy will thrive in a calm, nurturing home with patient humans who can give her the time and love she needs to continue building confidence. She’s the perfect match for someone looking for a mellow companion who’s always down for a cuddle, a stroll around the neighborhood, and years of quiet, loyal companionship. If you're looking for a sweet soul to love, please keep Lucy in mind.
Introduction - A retiring breeder has entrusted Labrador Rescuers with beautiful purebred AKC English Labradors to find their forever homes. Friendly, engaging and sociable, this dog will make a wonderful pet to any home committed to their training. They will need basic training skills, but know some commands. Rides quietly in the car, gives sweet kisses and is eager to please. Walking on a leash is new to this pup and leash training is necessary. This dog comes with their AKC registration form. Please check back for updates as we learn more about their personality from their foster home.
