Update - Coach has been diagnosed positive for heartworm and has begun treatment. The heartworm treatment is expected to last approximately three months. He is anticipated to complete treatment in October.

Foster Update #3 - Coach continues to thrive in foster care and has settled into home life beautifully. He is fully potty trained, crate trained, and leash trained. He rests quietly in his crate with the door open and shows no anxiety when left alone. In fact, he’s so calm and low-maintenance that I sometimes forget he’s even here while working from home. Coach is curious, observant, and eager to connect with the world around him. He enjoys watching people walk by from the front door and has no urge to bolt or bark, just quietly takes it all in. On walks, he wants to greet every person and dog he sees and lights up with interest wherever we go. While the world is still new to him, it’s clear he wants to be part of it. He’s learning to play with toys and interact with people more during playtime but is still a bit unsure of high energy play styles. He’s becoming more comfortable with affection. He now leans in for hugs, kisses, and pets, and he’s great during grooming. His favorite treats are pill pockets and milkbones, he’s not shy about asking for a snack when he feels he’s earned one. Coach is gentle, affectionate, and has a sweet little quirk: he licks softly as a sign of connection. He’s playful and wiggly like a puppy but carries a calmness that makes him easy to live with. He enjoys cuddling on the couch and will happily snooze at your feet while you work. He would thrive in a loving home where he can continue exploring the world at his own pace, with someone who enjoys his affectionate nature and steady companionship.

Foster Update #2 - Coach continues to settle in beautifully. He’s more relaxed at home, choosing to rest in his crate or cuddle on the couch. He is crate trained, house trained, and learning to self-soothe without constant reassurance. He walks well on a leash with a harness and stays close, though he gets excited and distracted by people and other animals. We’re working on improving focus. He responds well to “no,” “back up,” and “wait,” and we’re currently reinforcing “sit” and “lay.” Coach recently explored dog beach. He didn’t go in the water but showed no fear. He also enjoyed an OB outing where he loved getting attention from passersby. He is affectionate, gentle, and thrives on structure and companionship. He does well when left alone in his crate with no signs of separation anxiety or destructive behavior. He’s a wonderful dog who’s making steady progress every day. Foster Update #1 - Coach is settling in beautifully. He is a gentle, loyal, and people focused Lab who thrives on routine and companionship. He prefers to stay close to me but is building confidence every day. He’s affectionate without being overwhelming and has a calm, steady presence. He eats all his meals in the crate and has started going in on his own to rest. He’s still hesitant to enter on command, but we’re working on it. When left alone, he stays quiet and calm in his crate with no signs of separation anxiety or destructive behavior. Coach walks well on a leash with a harness and sticks close by. He knows “no” and “back up,” and we’re working on “sit” and “stay.” He is house trained with regular breaks and has had no recent accidents. He enjoys stuffed animals and carefully selected his favorites, which he now keeps on his bed. He recently initiated play with a friend of mine with a bow and soft bark, and he loves getting attention from neighborhood kids. He’s been relaxed and content during brushing and grooming. Post op went well and we will add more activity to his daily routine. Coach is still learning to settle on his own, but he’s making steady progress. He would do well in any home that can offer attention, affection, and a stable routine. He’s a really great dog and it’s been a joy to watch him. Introduction - A retiring breeder has entrusted Labrador Rescuers with beautiful purebred AKC English Labradors to find their forever homes. Friendly, engaging and sociable, this dog will make a wonderful pet to any home committed to their training. They will need basic training skills, but know some commands. Rides quietly in the car, gives sweet kisses and is eager to please. Walking on a leash is new to this pup and leash training is necessary. This dog comes with their AKC registration form. Please check back for updates as we learn more about their personality from their foster home.
