Foster Update #3 - Overall, Luna has been a great girl and follows me around like a puppy dog, sleeps through the night, eats (not scarfs) her food and has been a joy around people. She is getting better on leash, enjoys her daily walks and car rides (with her head out the window), and has been a people pleaser. I had a group out to my place last weekend and everyone loved her! Luna would love an environment with people to love and possibly another dog. She engages my friend's Lab and neighbor's Pit on every visit. I have not had her around a cat, but my gut tells me she won't care about the cat or have any reaction. I think the best environment for her is a couple who work from home or are retired, but active. They will need a secure yard as she tries to escape from mine when I leave her alone. She loves her exercise, but also just being around her human.

Foster Update #2 - It's been almost a month fostering Miss Luna and she is progressing nicely. She is starting to feel more safe at my place. She was around two small dogs at a friend's house and she did not seem to have any issue with the small dogs barking at her consistently. I had two friends stay at my place with their Lab and she did great. Having a second dog may be good companionship for Luna. The times she left my fenced yard she could see me working on my property and just wandered over to me and then ventured back to my yard. Luna loves to be outside, but not alone for too long and so I keep my front door opened into my fenced in yard so she can venture out, but come back in to see I am still here just working on my computer. I also have camera's outside to watch her and know she is not trying to escape. Her latest "thing" is sitting at my front door on the porch and looking in at me in the house working. This gives her the "outdoor vibe" while still feeling safe that I have not left her as she can see me inside. Luna does not scarf her food (like a typical Lab), she does great on leash, sleeps through the night, does not chew or destroy things and is a pretty mellow girl - all of the things we want in a "furry" friend. Luna is looking forward to her forever home.

Foster Update #1 - It's been one week since I began fostering Miss Luna and she seems to be healing fine from her recent spay and vet visit. She came to me very timid and her fur was a bit rough and unkept, but this past week she has warmed up nicely and seems to feel safe and more comfortable. I have had her around my neighbor's female dog and she interacted well, and I also had a group of people over for the weekend and everyone enjoyed her company. She sleeps through the night, comes to me when I call her name and whistle, and overall she is a sweet and gentle female Lab. She does well on a leash and loves her car rides. Luna has shown some escape artist behaviors that have lessened as she becomes acclimated to her foster home. At this point she does not have your typical Lab behaviors or interest - to include any interest in toys, balls, fetch, treats, body rubs, etc., and I think this is based on some of the neglect in her past life and probably not being in a great living environment or having a good upbringing. I am guessing she may have been just a breeder dog stuck in a backyard and possibly just ignored and left alone. I also think the more time I spend with her and treat her like the special Lab she is, she will start acting more like a playful and loving Lab and become a wonderful pet for a lucky family. Introduction - Beautiful Luna found herself in need of a new home due to unanticipated changes in her family. We reached out to see if we could help after becoming aware of her circumstances. When meeting the volunteer’s lab, she sniffed him a while and was pretty much over him after that. She met a small yappy dog that barked at her and no response. At our vet’s office where there were lots of people including little humans, and lots of dogs coming and going, she observed and then went back to whatever she was doing. She received a bath, vaccines and her spay while at the vet. After recovering from her spay and time spent with her foster getting to know her, Luna will be ready to meet potential adopters.
