Foster Update #2 - Marshmallow is making progress on her weight loss and is scheduled to be spayed at the end of April. With her angelic face and calm demeanor she tricked us into thinking she is a proper lady, but we have learned that she can be quite mischievous at times. She has mastered the art of the sneak attack counter surfing, she is after all a Lab on a diet. So now she goes in the crate when nobody is home, she does not love the crate, but she is OK to spend some time in there. She has grown very attached to me, follows me around the house, and I follow her when I notice she is headed for the kitchen. We are taking several short walks a day, she is always happy to go out even though she walks slowly and trails behind, probably not a good fit for long walks or as a jogging buddy. She loves to carry her plushies, but does not care to fetch or play with a ball. She enjoys bath time, she just sits there, the most calm dog I've seen at bath time. She is great on car rides. Overall Marshmallow is a sweet happy girl.
Foster Update #1 - She has been with us for six days and I have to say her name suits her well, she does look like a Marshmallow! She is fluffy and sweet.
She needs to lose some pounds before she is spayed and gets dental work. She is currently on special diet and we take her on multiple walks a day.
She is an awesome guest: potty trained, not a barker, not a door dasher, will come to you for a few pets and then she moves along to her favored place in the middle of the living room.
She sleeps well on a dog bed next to my bed, she is a super snorer though. She waits for you to get up, before getting up herself.
I think a dog buddy in the house would be great, while she is not playful, she likes to follow my dog when going out to the backyard, and likes to lounge close to him in the living room.
Low energy/slow mover girl. She is easy on the leash, but on the second half of our walks, she trails behind, we have been doing multiple short walks to help her get fit. She is friendly with other dogs we have met on our walks.
She likes to carry a plushie around, and may want to carry other things that she thinks are toys (like my doorstop, a Tupperware, even her dog bowl), but she is not destructive.
Because she is short and not very agile, I wouldn't consider her a kitchen counter surfer, but she will swipe food left at her reach.
She has been calm when left alone in the house. It's known that in the past she swallowed a rag, so if left alone we just make sure there are no socks or stuff around she can pick up and swallow.
It may take a few weeks before she is ready for adoption. But this girl is great!
