In addition to the adoption fee of $500, I will require a training deposit of $150 which is fully refundable upon completion of a training course.
Foster Update - Snickers is a great, mellow guy. Loves to go on walks and is great on leash with a harness. He goes on walks daily here and lasts about a mile, sometimes a mile and a half, but after that he lays down and refuses to get up. He is fully house broken with zero accidents inside the house. When we leave he free roams and takes the opportunity to lay on the only couches I don’t want dogs on (which he is probably like “then why do you have them?!” LOL). He will need a fair amount of training for things like not rushing the door, not jumping on the cars, and getting over his begging and sometimes taking habits. But he does know sit and is very adamant with his paw to get attention. He enjoys spending time outside and is a sun bather. Sometimes grabs toys/shoes that aren’t his but they are easily retrieved. No food aggressions and is pretty good at gentle when taking treats.
Snickers is kid friendly, both with the 4 yr old child in his foster home and the 1 yr old child in his vacation foster home. Snickers wants to be your #1 and will need to be the only dog in his forever home. He is fine passing other dogs across the street on walks but is not a dog that will be able to go to dog parks or off leash venues. We have been on walks with other dogs out on leashes or barking at fences and he shows little to no interest. All in all, we are loving having him here and he will make an incredible companion.
Introduction - Snickers entered a shelter as a stray weighing 94 lbs. When our volunteers brought him into rescue, he weighed 83 lbs and came with ear infections and an upper respiratory cold. The shelter staff loved him and described him as “wiggly, happy, sweet, friendly and easy to work with.” Snickers was very happy to jump in the volunteer's car and sought pets from the back seat. The reward was lots of thank you kisses! At the meetup spot to continue his journey to our vet, he wagged his tail at each passerby. Snickers enjoyed his next ride and appreciated all the TLC, giving the volunteer “the paw” whenever the pets paused. He is a very handsome lab and appears to be purebred with dew claws removed. With strays, it’s always a mystery how these dogs end up at a shelter. Snickers is now happily in his foster home so please check back for updates.
