In addition to the adoption fee of $500, I will require a training deposit of $150 which is fully refundable upon completion of a training course.
Foster Update #4 - Sienna is doing GREAT! She continues to amaze me and the people in our neighborhood who see her regularly. She will be at the adoption event on August 9th. She may want to stay near the truck so please come say hi!!
She needs a calm household and supportive family to be her rock and help her forward progression. Seeing her with foster sister Kona, I think she would benefit from having a home with a confident and respective fur sister or brother.
Sienna loves going to the baseball fields near us to play with her doggie friends and has even been known to hang out with the people instead of lurking scared in the outskirts.
When company comes over she retreats to the hallway but then comes out in the living room to her bed to hang out...or outside if that's where we are. Before, she would retreat to the upstairs.
We have had a few additional fosters in recent months. She has come out of her shell a little more with each of them. But nothing like since Kona has arrived!!
Since Kona has arrived at our home, Sienna is playing with a lot her...even playing TUG and initiating the play!!! This is HUGE for her and the first foster she has interacted with this much. She is becoming the playful young dog she has never gotten to be.
Sienna even happily shares "her" bed with Kona. By "her" bed, I mean my bed. Okay! Their bed and I'm allowed a small corner. ?? hahaha
She has also learned from Kona that cuddling with mama in bed is really kinda cool. Hence why I have only a small corner of the bed. I'm a little tired these days, but the love of dogs is all worth it.
Last big step? Sienna has eaten her last 5 meals without me sitting nearby. She has seen Kona eat all by herself and is now also eating by HER self like a big girl. You can tell she is on alert, but she does it!!
Oh wait! Now that she is becoming more confident, she has learned sit!! I know that seems like no big deal. But for her, it's a big deal.
Sienna is an amazing, sweet, loveable, big deal that will make a family her world if they will do the same for her.
Foster Update #3 - Sienna has accomplished so much since our last update:
We are now going for walks around the neighborhood! During our walks she experiences "scary" things like "peoples" of all different sizes, other puppers, garbage trucks, etc.
We stop and "talk" to the peoples. Sienna observes and will eventually move to the edge of her stranger danger comfort zone of about one foot. Our neighbors are so fabulous! They understand her fears and are very happy to help her.
I went out of town for several days not long ago. My son and crew stayed with Sienna. She is familar with them but, it took her a couple of days to settle. Best thing...she did it!!!
She has shown a tendency to be a little "ruff" on "babies" (stuffies). But, we'll take it because she at least she is playing with toys. Her goal is to get to the squeaker. Haha Which is quickly taken away so she doesn't get hurt.
We attended one of LR's adoption events recently, anticipating to observe from afar. Nope, Sienna had a little FOMO and decided she needed to be closer to the action. Although she didn't go deep in, she went close! She also entertained a few visitors which was AMAZING to witness.
Last but not least, today she had her first pack "play date" and actually showed some desire to play.
I'm so proud of this girl!!! She wants so much to be a dog and shows me every day her determination to get there.
Sienna's wish list for her forever family:
- a calm household
- a family who will be patient with her as she settles in
- continue slow introductions to new people and experiences
- be her rock so she continues her path to more confidence
- other animals seem to be fine. She has not shown any reaction to cats or wild bunny rabbits
Foster Update #2 - Sienna is doing GREAT! She has become my little shadow and chooses to stay in the living room when familiar faces come over instead of bolting. Today's HUGE breakthrough....SHE WENT INTO THE FRONT YARD and even out for a little walk on the sidewalk in front of the house! We had cars, kids, bikes, and a dog go by while we were "walking". She watched it all happen then continued forward. This is AMAZING progress for this sweet shy girl. She has started "asking" for attention, started doing bunny hops and bucking bronco impersonations in the back yard to engage in "play". She even swiped one of my socks to play with today! This girl is putting in the work and progressing soooo well. I am incredibly proud of her!
Foster Update #1 -
We have had Sienna almost three weeks now and experienced many firsts with her. She came to us very shy and skittish, not wanting to leave the safety of her crate.
Fast forward to this past weekend when we became a big girl doing all potties outside...no more potty pads!!!
We have been able to lose the drag lead since she is now coming in and going outside without any "urging".
Although she is still shy and skittish, she gave me a play bow this past weekend and then engaged in some play time. While this all happened at the very convenient time of 4am, I didn't mind at all to take part in the shenanigans.
Earlier this week was a first going upstairs. She quickly found a dog bed to crash on for a mid-day nap. At bedtime she discovered the big comfy human bed and she has taken it over like a pro.
She doesn't much like the camera so we will need to work on some better pictures of her once she settles in a little more.
Although we already see her sweet side, I'm sure she is going to be a huge love bug once she travels the long road she is currently on...and she is putting in the miles.
Sienna’s puppies have all been adopted into wonderful homes, her mommy duties are over and she is waiting for her forever home!
Introduction - Sienna joined Labrador Rescuers by way of a local shelter. Sienna gave birth on 1/1/25 and is still nursing her puppies. Sienna is doing her mommy duties and will be available for adoption once her puppies are 8 weeks old and she has been spayed. What we know about her now is, she is shy and fearful. Can't blame her after her short stay at the shelter. She does take treats nicely. She doesn't mind you loving her puppies and them going up to you. Just after a few hours in her foster home, her eyes softened, and she laid down in her crate to nap. She also enjoyed some turkey slices. She let us pet her head and neck without moving away. She is absolutely beautiful! Sienna is a young Momma. This is her first litter based on her age. Please check back with us as we learn more about her. Sienna is being fostered in a home with another dog and cat that lives on the property.
