My Senior Adoption Fee is $150.
Foster Update #4 - Happy has overcome so much and is quite the poster child for rescue dogs, from a dirty emaciated street dog to a now trusted dog with the run of his foster home. This smart boy is eager to please, knows several commands, and enjoys neighborhood walks & longer hikes at Mission Trails. He just wants someone to help him stay healthy, continue teaching him, and provide a safe comfortable forever home.
Foster Update #3 - Happy is looking and feeling so much better and is ready for a loving home. He is a great companion and walking partner. His pathology report came back as a low grade mast cell tumor however an oncology consult has confirmed that it is unlikely to metastasize and should not impact life expectancy. However he may be prone to other mast cell tumors in the future so any new lumps/bumps should be monitored. Current treatment recommendation is daily Pepcid and Benedryl (both available as generic otc at Costco) to keep his skin/coat healthy . A daily Zenrelia and monthly Simparica Trio which are anti itch and flea protection to also help his skin. Happy is a typical Lab when it comes to eating and takes his pills on top of his food without issue. His adoption fee has been reduced in consideration of his ongoing maintenance. Please consider adding this Happy senior to your home.
Foster Update #2 - Happy has been neutered and had his mass removed. A few teeth were removed as well while he was under general anesthetic. We are awaiting the pathology report on the large mass and hoping for the best for this very kind senior boy.
Foster Update #1 - Happy is doing very well in his foster home! He goes on 4-5 mile walks, has learned not to pull on leash, and is leaving food on counters alone. Happy no longer has to worry about if and when his next meal will arrive. The only indication of age is a slower pace going up multiple stairs. Please check back to see when Happy will be back at the vet for his neuter, mass removal and dental work. While awaiting his surgeries, Happy is gaining weight and growing hair!
Introduction - Happy was found at a shelter in very poor condition that indicated long term neglect. He was named Happy by the shelter staff and it is the perfect name for him, and representative of the indomitable spirit he displays. He is emaciated, has ear and skin infections, missing hair, bad teeth and a large mass. His neuter, mass removal and dental are on hold until his infections have resolved. Despite his condition, he has a wagging tail that will clear a coffee table and energy to spare. He goes up and down a few steps with no problems, likes to play fetch (but will not drop ball), and hops in and out of vehicles with ease. We discovered he loves riding in cars! Happy appears to be a Lab/Golden mix or perhaps all Lab, when his hair grows back we’ll have a better idea. He likes chew toys and peanutbutter Kongs. A big cuddler, he will snuggle up to you for love and plant kisses on your cheek. We are looking forward to seeing his transformation as he flourishes in his foster home.
