Foster Update #2 - Alma got her eye sutures removed yesterday and is loving life without her cone. She is very social and wants to say hello to every single dog and person she sees. I think she would like another young dog to play with. She may be too playful for older dogs. She loves to do zoomies in the backyard, play fetch, and play with her doggie toys. She does try to get into my children’s toys and crafts if left unsupervised. So, if there are young kids in the home, the family will need to watch her as she loves to chew on things and explore. She will need a family that will play with her and spend lots of time with her because she is velcro and extremely loving. She will jump in your lap and sleep in your bed if you let her. She is strong on her leash and pulls so she needs leash training. She gets excited when she meets new people and will jump up, but responds well to correction. Once she gets enough exercise, she likes to nibble on her toys or take a nap on the couch. We call her Goldilocks because she likes to sleep in everyone’s bed. She is very smart and already learned how to sit. She is adorable with a classic sweet lab personality. Not a mean bone in her body.

Foster Update #1 - We have been fostering Alma for 5 days and she is an absolute love bug. She loves to hug, give kisses, lean, and snuggle on the couch. She loves to touch as much as possible. She follows me everywhere. Alma is potty trained and sleeps through the night on her dog bed in our bedroom. She is good with dogs and cats. Every day she feels a little better and more of her puppy nature comes out. She nibbles and is mouthy and is also starting to jump up a little. She responds well to corrections and is learning some basic commands. She begs for food, but has not counter surfed. That may be because of her cone and ongoing recovery from eye surgery and spay. She is great with my 6 y/o twin boys and will give them gentle kisses and takes treats very gently. Loud sounds like the vacuum or the blender are still pretty scary for her. She is even fearful of my electric toothbrush, so she needs more exposure to home life. She zig zags on her leash during walks and will need some basic training, but does not pull too hard. She is darling and we all LOVE her already. She gets her sutures removed mid February and will then be available to meet potential adopters. Introduction - Alma came to our rescue from a family who was no longer able to keep her. We are so blessed to have her. She has just the right amount of energy. She is sweet, great with other dogs and gets along with cats!!! Still learning about this pretty girl. She had surgery for bilateral entropion on 1/31 so will be ready for adoption in about two weeks. Look for updates from her foster.
