Foster Update #2: Monty is a super happy, affectionate, high-energy dog. He likes dogs and kids and is house-trained. He loves the dog park and has a blast there, he is respectful to the other dogs, but he has a high prey drive so no small dogs or cats for him. He attended an adoption event and was a good boy meeting all the dogs there. He will need a home where someone is home during the day. We have started leash-training with him but he will need a committed and consistent family.
Foster Update #1: Monty is a sweet friendly pup who likes to snuggle. He likes to play fetch. He knows to play with "dog" toys, has not chewed on anything he is not supposed to. He is still young at only about 1 year, so still has some puppyish behavior, has puppy nipped a few times but responds well to correction. Because of the hot weather and the stitches, he has not been on very many walks but will start leash-training this week. He is due to have his stitches removed and be neutered on 9/16.
Introduction - Monty, a one year old yellow lab, was hit by a car and left in the street. A good samaritan picked him up and brought him to the shelter where he received some minimal vet care. After our volunteer rescued him, he was taken immediately to our partner vet, who determined that Monty was pretty ruffed up but no broken bones. Great news for Monty! He had lots of stitches to put him right and is recovering in his loving foster home. Monty will be neutered when he is feeling better.
