Foster Update #2: We have been fostering Jagger for two weeks now. He was initially afraid of the leash, but now he loves going on walks, and walks pretty well in a harness. He is nearly fully potty trained, when we let him out he goes straight to our side yard, which is our designated potty spot, and does his business. He does not go potty on leash, he prefers to waits until we get back to the house and go in the backyard. Jagger likes water and enjoys playing with the hose, he is excellent for baths, we have not yet taken him in the pool. He is a great retriever and will drop the ball at your feet to be thrown. He plays hard, but then can easily chill on a bed while you work from home. He will benefit from continued training, his major vices are jumping up on people and counter surfing. He plays nicely with dog toys and hasn’t chewed or damaged anything in the house, he does like to pick up shoes but will just carry them around. He is good with the kids in his foster home, ages 10 and 13. Jagger is very good with other dogs and is relentless about wanting to play, so would do well in a home with a dog buddy. Foster Update #1: Jagger is a sweet but timid boy, only around people. He has slowly warmed up to my teenage son but generally seems more comfortable around females. He is a fluffy guy and has the biggest paws! He does well with other dogs, and even is good with my cats, he will chase if they run but is not aggressive. He is mostly housebroken, still piddles when he is scared, but is becoming more willing to come when called, and follow me around. He whines when on a leash, doesn't understand the concept. We are working on socializing him to get him more comfortable around people. First thoughts on his perfect forever family, he will do best with other animals who like to play. He will need someone willing to work with him on leash skills and help him understand that the world is not a scary place. Introduction: Meet Cher and her rock star puppies. She was taken in by a good Samaritan when a neighbor realized that she was pregnant and the owner was planning to dump her in the desert. On 02/27/24 she had a litter of 17 puppies. She has now joined Lab Rescuers with 3 of her remaining puppies. Since early February, Cher has lived on a 5 acre ranch with 7 other dogs, 9 cats and kittens, a tortoise and a donkey whom she befriended. Cher's puppies Jagger, Henley and Ozzy are starting their new lives in foster homes. They are typical wiggly puppies but also seem a bit apprehensive of their new world. Stay tuned as we get to know them.
