Foster Update #2: Sophie is a real sweetheart and follows us everywhere. She pulls a bit when you start to walk but then settles down after a few minutes. We typically walk about 2 miles. She does jump up and puts her paws on you when excited. We have not had any accidents since the first two days, we do take her outside frequently. Sophie sleeps well in her kennel and goes right in without hesitation. When I can’t take her with me I leave her in the kennel and she is good. Sophie was introduced to a volunteer's cat and was curious but did not display any aggression, so she may be suitable for a home with cats. Foster Update #1: We have only been fostering Sophie for a couple of days but here is what we know so far: 1. She knows "sit" and "shake" 2. Knows how to play fetch, will fetch a few times then she's done. 3. Loves meals and treats, no resource guarding. She is totally okay with petting her or touching her food bowl while she is eating. 4. Very social - loves to meet people. 5. She is bossy when she wants attention and is pretty vocal. 6. She is crate trained. She sleeps through the night in the crate. We are not yet sure if she is housebroken, she had one potty accident the first day but nothing else since then. We will transition her to sleeping on the dog bed once we are sure. 7. She loves going for walks and has good energy. She joined me on a 3 mile walk this morning and another 4 mile walk in the evening. Currently snoring away. 8. Easy to walk on a body harness, but will pull a bit to meet other dogs. 9. Sophie would prefer to be the only dog in your home. Introduction: Sophie was languishing in a shelter after having been picked up as a stray with a younger lab. We suspect her companion may have been Sophie’s daughter, and was already adopted. Sophie is a friendly happy girl with some spunk for her age. Her tail wags a mile a minute to show her joy at being sprung from the shelter!
