Foster Update: Lucious (‘Lus’, pronounced "loose", and a selection of other nicknames for short :) ) is a handsome black Lab who has been such a joy to foster. Lus is people, kid and dog friendly and will make a wonderful companion. Lus is thriving in training and is a quick study and treat motivated. He is also house-trained, gives cues when he needs to go outside and knows his simple manners like sit, wait, gentle and leave it. He takes comfort in his crate, which we call ‘bed’. He goes into crate on command, and also by choice with the door open. That being said, he does not require a crate. He enjoys any toy in his mouth when greeting someone new and loves to play fetch too. If you allow him to cuddle in bed or on the couch, he is all in – however he also responds well to ‘off’ and understands this boundary. Lus would do wonderful with a family, or individual, who can provide a consistent outlet for exercise (parks, walks, etc) and willing to continue training to continue to instill good manners. Lucious has been having SO much fun at the dog park - he has interacted with large and small (and small-vocal) dogs without issue and he listens when called. Friendly, loving humans that want a lovable, fun and energetic yet also calm family member – Lus is simply the best! Intro: Meet Lucius - pronounced "Lue Shus". Lucius joins LR with his (not biological) sister Nyx. These two have know nothing but love and have been well cared for. Lucius is a beautiful black Lab. He met several dogs today during his evaluation. He was well behaved. He was corrected for over sniffing another dog and moved away like a good boy. He LOVES LOVES LOVES treats. Watch your fingers until he learns gentle. Lucius is happy sharing treats and will sit and wait his turn. He is potty trained and sleeps through the night. Lucius can be strong on leash and may pull to meet new people and new dogs. He is fine meeting them. No aggression at all. He is just excited to make new friends. Lucius loves car rides and the AC blowing in his face. His version of fetch is return it a few times and then lets play keep away. His former owner said he has met cats and was fine. We believe he is cat friendly with a dog savvy cat. They also said he enjoys a good nap in bed. Lucius is being fostered with kids. His foster reports he is great with them. Please check back for updates as we learn more about him.
