Zara is a beautiful purebred lab who knows some commands, jumps eagerly into the car for an outing and rides quietly. She wants to be with her people, whether sleeping at their feet in the home or hanging out in the yard with them. Drinking out of the fountain was a challenge with her big head but she figured it out. Zara is not a high energy girl and enjoys her walks but needs work on not pulling strongly. She is very smart and learned quickly to wait while people went through the door. We tried her out with a ramp in a higher profile vehicle and after a moment’s hesitation went up the ramp and back down the ramp. At the park she was hoping people walking by would pet her and passed other dogs with no issues. She enjoyed her after-walk bath and rubdown. She is well mannered in the home. At this point she seems more interested in her people, rather than becoming pals with other dogs. Zara seemed a bit too interested in chasing kitties so a kitty free home may be best. Please check back for updates as she goes to Intake Vetting and then off to foster home.

Update 7/29: Zara is a very sweet girl, loves to sit near by and get gentle pets. Once she knows you are kind, she will lean in for love & be your best pal. She has been enjoying some relaxing in the yard on her own as well & goes inside open crate on her own. Sleeps through the night on dog bed, has not jumped on furniture, but may enjoy it if she is welcome. She likes the kiddie pool, so I think she may like to swim. She walks well with a harness, she is not a fan of a neck collar while walking. We have only done short strolls while she recovers. She is alert to critters and very interested in moving toward them, but listens well. She is recovering nicely from a bout of kennel cough and will be checked out for hip/knee mobility issue by vet this coming week. She does like other dogs, but did not glue herself to them.. So check back for updates soon.
