New Foster Update 4/8/23: Sadie has been with us since her first foster took on another dog in need of rehab following surgery. Here is what we can add to the notes below:

* Gets along great with her canine foster brother and sister

* Loves morning walks and greets humans and other well-behaved dogs well

* Loves to play ball and will chase a ball all over the yard as long as someone will throw it

* Needs indestructible balls/toys

* Chills nicely on the sofa or a dog bed after a good romp

* Looks forward to rides in the car.

We are working on Sadie’s ball manners as she tends to be reluctant to give it up when playtime is over. This is improving as she has learned there will always be another playtime. Sadie’s forever family will be rewarded tenfold when she settles in her new home and reaches her comfort zone. Foster Update 1/20/23: Don't pass up this gem! Sadie may be 7 years old but she's still a very active girl. She loves to participate in family activities. Loves walking, playing ball, and anything other activity you can include her in. She has lots of energy but is not a high energy dog. A moderately active family with a back yard she can run around in would be Sadie's dream. She's very loyal and loves to cuddle on the couch after dinner. Sadie is a low-maintenance gal who places few demands on her family. Sadie is a remarkable girl and would be a great addition to almost any family.

Foster Update 9/20/22: Sadie has been a super pup during her rehab and she is going to be a great family dog. Sadie is a mildly velcro dog. If you are a work at home family, Sadie will curl up at your feet while you work. At night, if you are watching TV, she will cuddle with you on the couch. Sadie is fully housebroken and sleeps through the night. She crates well, but is trustworthy when left alone and thus does not need to be crated. Sadie loves loves loves going for walks although she would probably not be a good jogging/running partner. She is very good on-leash however occasionally she is mildly reactive to other dogs and sometime people. She is a super happy girl that loves playing ball and will try her hardest to get you to engage and play with her. Sadie gets along great with her two foster home dogs and will play ball and keep-away with them. Another mild mannered dog in her forever home would be welcome.

Sadie is a slim, trim, well-muscled girl. There is no fat on this beautiful lady. She has a swimmer's body but we don't know if she likes the water. For a 7-year-old, she is very spry and energetic. She is a medium energy girl (unless you're playing ball of course!). She is an alert barker and will of course join in if another dog starts barking. She seems to be trained as she knows the common commands. She takes treats gently and does not beg at the dinner table. Sadie rides great in the car. Sadie will make a great family/companion pet for a moderately active family.

Meet Sadie. A wonderful 7 year old black Lab who has been a family dog her whole life living with young kids and two small dogs. Sadie was surrendered due to a cruciate ligament tear as her family could not afford the surgery. Sadie is tentatively scheduled for TPLO surgery on 7/21. Check back as we learn more about Sadie and help her during her recovery.
