Hailee was picked up as an injured stray and taken to an emergency vet, where it was determined she had a broken leg. She was splinted and transferred to a shelter for continuing care and to see if her owner would claim her. After her retention period was over, and no contact from owner, we pulled her and took her to an LR partner vet for assessment of her leg. Hailee is a very pretty, shy labradoodle. She is on Medical Hold while our vet determines her best treatment.

Additional Info - We have since discovered that Hailee was found in the mountains and helped by a dedicated group of dog lovers to get her to safety.

Foster Update 5/28/22:

While we have had Hailee for about 6 weeks now, some of our observations are tempered by the fact that Hailee has been activity restricted to give her leg the maximum benefit for healing. However, during this time we have come to realize she is going to be a loving and loyal companion. She's a very happy girl with typical puppy energy. She is very playful and loves to interact with people and other dogs. She likes to chew so lots of chew toys will need to be provided. She crates very well which has helped significantly in her recovery. Hailee is housebroken. Hailee doesn't appear to have received any formal training so training is highly recommended. Hailee is smart and food motivated so training should be a breeze. She does understand NO. She's a bit of a jumper and can be quite exuberant at times so a family with small children is not recommended. She's not a barker unless egged on by another vocal dog. She does counter surf, so typical counter/table precautions are necessary. She has not shown any signs of separation anxiety, resource guarding, or food aggression. She will chase squirrels and rabbits given the opportunity. She's mildly Velcro and likes to be with her people. She doesn't seem too fond of cars but rides well in the car.

Medical Update: Hailee had additional surgery on her leg on 5/26/22 to correct an issue with one of the growth plates on her Ulna bone. The surgery was successful and Hailee will be returning home today for recovery and rehabilitation.
